Booking, Payment & Cancellation Policy

We’re so thrilled you’re considering a stay with us at Nature Nurtures. Because we’re a small, owner-operated retreat, each booking is really important to us. Below is everything you need to know about confirming your stay, payment details, cancellations, and a few important terms to make sure your visit runs smoothly.

Booking & payment

  • A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your stay.

  • Your booking is not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

  • The remaining balance is due by the morning of your arrival. If not arranged otherwise, the credit card used to book will automatically be charged for the outstanding amount (plus any credit card processing fees).

  • By proceeding with your booking, you agree to the terms and conditions, including our cancellation policy, health and safety obligations, and respect for our no-drone, no-party environment.

  • Please ensure you have read our FAQ section before booking to make sure our unique off-grid experience suits your needs.

  • We accept payment by bank transfer or major credit cards.

  • Please note: Credit card transactions will incur a small processing fee.

    If you would prefer to avoid card fees, please contact us to arrange a direct bank transfer instead.

Important: Please double-check all details before confirming your booking. We're always happy to answer questions if you’re unsure!

Rates

  • $300/night (weekdays, minimum 2-night stay)

  • $350/night (weekends, Friday–Sunday, minimum 2-night stay)

  • $400/night (for rare one-night stays, subject to availability)

  • All rates include:
    Use of your private hot tubs, full linen and towels, breakfast essentials ( homemade muesli OR eggs and ciabatta), hot drinks, cooking staples, filtered drinking water, kitchen facilities and thoughtful extras to make your stay special!

Cancellation policy

Because of the nature of our small retreat, cancellations can significantly impact us. Please read carefully:

  • More than 14 days before arrival:
    Your 25% deposit is fully refundable.

  • Between 7–14 days before arrival:
    50% refund of your deposit.

  • Less than 7 days before arrival:
    Unfortunately, the deposit is non-refundable.

  • Same-day cancellations or no-shows:
    100% of the full cost will be charged.

  • Early departures:
    No refunds will be given if you leave early once checked in.

We highly recommend that guests arrange travel insurance to cover unexpected cancellations.


Changes and rescheduling

  • Up to 14 days prior to arrival, you may reschedule your booking to a new date (subject to availability) with no penalty.

  • Within 14 days of arrival, changes are treated as cancellations and may be subject to fees.

  • Rescheduled bookings must be completed within 12 months of the original booking date.

Extreme weather

Your safety comes first. In the case of extreme weather (such as more than 2 inches of rain falling in 12 hours, or severe winds making the bush track unsafe), we will contact you.

In these cases, you will be offered:

  • a full refund, or

  • a transfer of your booking to another date (no extra cost).

Please note that light rain or cold temperatures are a normal part of the New Zealand bush experience and not grounds for refund or rescheduling.


COVID-19 and medical emergencies

  • If you are unwell with COVID-19 or another significant illness, please let us know as soon as possible. We will work with you to reschedule your stay whenever possible.

  • If government travel restrictions affect your ability to stay, we will extend the validity of your booking or voucher.

No refunds for:

  • change of mind

  • weather that does not trigger a severe event warning (e.g., light rain or cloudy skies)

  • early departure after check-in

  • missed check-in times without prior communication.

Important Guest Information

  • Check-In: Between 3:00–6:00 PM. Last arrival by 7:00 PM latest (no exceptions for safety reasons).

  • Check-Out: 11:00 AM at the carpark.

  • The walk to the hut is a beautiful 5-minute bush trail. Please arrive during daylight and bring appropriate footwear.

  • Maximum 2 guests per hut.
    No extra visitors, tents, or hammocks permitted.

  • Pets: Friendly dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times to protect native wildlife.

  • No drones: Out of respect for other guests and wildlife, drones are not permitted.

  • Self-catering: Please note that due to food licensing regulations, our dinner hampers are pre-prepared hampers. Guests with allergies or dietary restrictions are advised to self-cater.

Health & Safety

By booking a stay with us, guests agree to take personal responsibility for:

  • Walking tracks (which may be uneven or slippery after rain)

  • Fire safety and use of candles or cooking appliances

  • General awareness of natural bush and farm hazards

  • Following all instructions given onsite for use of facilities (especially around hot tubs, kitchen appliances, and the fire pit if in use)

If you have any medical conditions that could impact your ability to walk uphill, or other health concerns (e.g., pregnancy, heart issues, limited mobility), please let us know when booking.

Vouchers

  • Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

  • Vouchers are not redeemable for cash but can be re-gifted to another guest.

  • One-night vouchers cannot be used during periods where a 2-night minimum applies.

  • Voucher holders must email us directly to book — please do not book via the website.
